Parent Involvement

Students + School + Teachers + Family = SUCCESS! Our school was originally formed in 1984 due to "popular parent demand". Parents wanted a safe haven or "stepping stone" before their children had to tackle the big world of elementary school. At NWCS, individualization, flexibility and personal attention assures that no child ever gets "lost in the crowd".

NWCS Parents are always welcome in the classroom and on special projects and field trips. We believe the more you stay active in your child's education, the more your child will benefit. Parents can be involved with field trips, special art projects, researching and setting up learning centers, sharing their careers, recycling, parties, and fund raisers.

Progress reports are sent home twice a year, with Parent-Teacher Conferences held mid-year. Of course, you are welcome at ANY time to confer with your child's teacher. In fact, we encourage it!

Registration

Registration for our Pre-School and Pre-Kindergarten enrollment begins in February for the following school year. We fill up quickly; it is advisable to call the school early to request a registration packet. For those of you new to the school, the application process consists of a school visit by the parents and student (if possible), completion of the application forms, and payment of a $35 registration fee.

Tours are given daily throughout the school year. It is wise to phone ahead to make sure we are not out on a field trip. Go ahead and bring the whole family! We love to show off our school. We've made you a map for easy driving directions.

For a free information packet, please call the school office at the above number and leave your name and address, or simply e-mail the Director with that information. A packet will be mailed out to you within 24 hours, as promised! Included will be information on the different programs, teachers, and facility; a list of field trips; unit themes; and what our school day is like.

We can even provide you with references from current and former NWCS families so you may hear a "parent's perspective" about our programs.
